Nonqualified Benefit Plan Implementation Specialist

American Financial Systems, Inc., a leader in the nonqualified benefits industry, is looking to hire an experienced Plan Implementation Specialist. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the benefit plan and its funding, working with the AFS administration team, the producer or wholesaler, and the life insurance carrier’s underwriting or new business staff.

Duties Include:

  • Gathering information about the plan from the case design team and the producer or wholesaler
  • Analyzing the plan documentation and preparing a term sheet describing the features of the plan
  • Working with the plan administration team to load the plan into the administrative systems
  • Preparing plan and enrollment communications
  • Coordinating the plan enrollment
  • Coordinating the underwriting and issue of COLI policies, if applicable

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience with a solid working knowledge of nonqualified benefit plan concepts and 409A regulations.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of plans including deferred compensation & defined contribution. Bonus and DB SERP experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the underlying funding concepts including mutual funds and COLI is also a plus.
  • Experience in the underwriting and issue of COLI policies

  • Strong client service philosophy.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write and speak well with clients, participants and consultants.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a busy setting.
  • Extremely detail oriented and conscientious about following procedures.
  • Very organized, responsible and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excel at problem solving and analysis.
  • Solid math skills and working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Financial and/or qualified plan background is a plus.

Education:     

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Masters in Business or Advanced Certification – CLU, CFP, CPA desirable
